The Emmaus retreat is an intimate and very personal appointment with the love of God, Emmaus is not a movement but a parish apostolate promoted by community laity, in accordance with the new evangelization that involves the laity in the church. It has the accompaniment and spiritual support of priests and deacons of our parish. Its purpose is to bring souls to encounter Christ. Emmaus is a spiritual renewal based on the Gospel of Saint Luke 24, 13-35, the retreat offers an opportunity for all those women over 18 years of age who are seeking to know Jesus. Living the Emmaus retreat is living a transformative journey as a result of the encounter with the love of Jesus.
The first retreat took place in 1978 in San Luis parish of Miami. It was held at the Dominicans’ retreat house, and began at the request of pastor David Russell together with Myrna Gallagher (RIP) director of religious education. The retreat of Emmaus involves retiring from the world from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon in a house of spirituality and through lay servers and a series of personal experiences, all related to the spiritual, emotional and interpersonal life. All this helps to leave the retreat with a renewed sense of priorities and purpose. The objective is that when it ends, we can all recognize that Jesus lives among us, loving us with eternal love. The retreat offers an opportunity for those who do not know Jesus to enjoy a transformative journey as a result of reunion with Jesus. Emmaus allows us to live a life full of love for God, it is based on personal experiences and testimonies related to forgiveness, service to others, spiritual life, physical or emotional healing, the idea is to renew life from the heart.
Throughout the walk in Emmaus some broken marriages have forgiven each other and have regained love, brothers have been reconciled, people who did not understand the meaning of life now understand that God loves them, women far from the church have asked to prepare for receiving baptism, the sick thank God for their illness, the hopeless embrace the love of God. Living the Emmaus retreat is a gift that the participants make to their lives to meet the Lord face to face. They can go to the retreat, lay and religious people of all the charisms of the church, even non-Catholic people or of other denominations, since the Love of God does not put barriers, people of all sensibilities of the church come to the retreat, we all need to experience the Love of God in our lives. When God transforms your heart and changes your perception of life, you have the need to transmit it, the retreat attendees come out happy like these disciples Emmaus, and follow those words of Pope Francis to become channels to transmit the Love of Christ. We are called to speak of Jesus to all our sisters and brothers, not only in our parish community but especially in the environments in which we move, go out and take the message of God’s love to the periphery. Emmaus is a pilgrimage path; this is our life of faith. At Emmaus we meet Jesus whom we do not recognize so many times in our lives so empty and full of things materials.
After having lived your Emmaus retreat, we have a spiritual growth follow-up every Friday at the youth center. At 7pm.

El retiro de Emaús es una cita íntima y muy personal con el amor de Dios, Emaús no es un movimiento sino un apostolado parroquial promovido por los laicos de la comunidad, de acuerdo con la nueva evangelización que implica a los laicos en la iglesia. Cuenta con el acompañamiento y apoyo espiritual de sacerdotes y diáconos de nuestra parroquia. Su finalidad es llevar a las almas al encuentro con Cristo. Emaús es una renovación espiritual basada en el Evangelio de San Lucas 24, 13-35, el retiro ofrece una oportunidad para todas aquellas mujeres mayores de 18 años que buscan conocer a Jesús. Vivir el retiro de Emaús es vivir un viaje transformador como resultado del encuentro con el amor de Jesús.
El primer retiro tuvo lugar en 1978 en la parroquia de San Luis de Miami. Se celebró en la casa de retiro de los dominicos, y comenzó a petición del párroco David Russell junto con Myrna Gallagher (RIP) directora de educación religiosa. El retiro de Emaús implica retirarse del mundo desde el viernes por la tarde hasta el domingo por la tarde en una casa de espiritualidad y a través de servidores laicos y una serie de experiencias personales, todas relacionadas con la vida espiritual, emocional e interpersonal. Todo ello ayuda a salir del retiro con un sentido renovado de prioridades y propósitos. El objetivo es que, cuando termine, todos podamos reconocer que Jesús vive entre nosotros, amándonos con amor eterno. El retiro ofrece una oportunidad para que aquellos que no conocen a Jesús disfruten de un viaje transformador como resultado del reencuentro con Jesús. Emaús nos permite vivir una vida llena de amor a Dios, se basa en experiencias y testimonios personales relacionados con el perdón, el servicio a los demás, la vida espiritual, la sanación física o emocional, la idea es renovar la vida desde el corazón.
A lo largo de la caminata en Emaús algunos matrimonios rotos se han perdonado y han recuperado el amor, hermanos se han reconciliado, personas que no entendían el sentido de la vida ahora comprenden que Dios les ama, mujeres alejadas de la iglesia han pedido prepararse para recibir el bautismo, enfermos dan gracias a Dios por su enfermedad, desesperanzados abrazan el amor de Dios. Vivir el retiro de Emaús es un regalo que los participantes hacen a sus vidas para encontrarse cara a cara con el Señor. Pueden acudir al retiro, laicos y religiosos de todos los carismas de la iglesia, incluso personas no católicas o de otras confesiones, ya que el Amor de Dios no pone barreras, acuden al retiro personas de todas las sensibilidades de la iglesia, todos necesitamos experimentar el Amor de Dios en nuestras vidas. Cuando Dios transforma tu corazón y cambia tu percepción de la vida, tienes la necesidad de transmitirlo, los asistentes al retiro salen contentos como estos discípulos de Emaús, y siguen esas palabras del Papa Francisco de convertirse en canales para transmitir el Amor de Cristo. Estamos llamados a hablar de Jesús a todas nuestras hermanas y hermanos, no solo en nuestra comunidad parroquial sino especialmente en los ambientes en los que nos movemos, salir y llevar el mensaje del amor de Dios a las periferias. Emaús es un camino de peregrinación; ésta es nuestra vida de fe. En Emaús nos encontramos con Jesús a quien no reconocemos tantas veces en nuestras vidas tan vacías y llenas de cosas materiales.
Después de haber vivido tu retiro de Emaús, tenemos un seguimiento de crecimiento espiritual todos los viernes en el centro juvenil. A las 7 de la tarde.
